Labor Day Weekend Recap

I hope everyone had a great long weekend! We spent Friday night in just relaxing after Cody had a long week of rotations. I started and finished this book from Friday night to Saturday morning. My MIL gave it to me after she read it when we were in Knoxville. I’m going to do another book review next week and this will be one of the books I will discuss. FYI it was enthralling!

Before We were Yours

Saturday we met up with the University of Tennessee Alumni Group for Dallas, TX at a bar called Slater’s 50/50 in lower Greenville to watch the football game. It was a neat bar and it was great to watch it with new friends! Sadly we lost but excited we aren’t the only Vols fans in Dallas!

Cheering on the Vols at Slater’s 50/50

Not a great picture because it was kind of dark where we were sitting!

After the game we headed to Deep Ellum (a funky little neighborhood in Dallas) to have dinner with some friends at Cane Rosso. We were starving and so the only picture I remembered to take was naturally of the food. Cody and I both got the Honey Bastard Pizza which isn’t on the menu but it is their most popular pizza. The pizza consisted of mozzarella, hot soppresata, bacon marmalade and habanero-infused honey. It was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. It was sweet and spicy but the flavors perfectly complimented each other.

Sunday we went to church and then came back and lounged for a few hours before Cody and I went on a jog/ walk to Tietze Park. The park is special to us because Cody’s parents use to take Cody there when he was a baby!

Sunday night we headed to the Labor of Love Homebrew Competition hosted by Deep Ellum Brewing Company. The event was such a steal with tickets only being $20 and that allowed you to have unlimited access to tasting all of the homebrews, three full sized Deep Ellum brews, and live music. We met up with some of Cody’s residents and had a great time!

We ended the night at Brick & Bones which was delicious and our first time trying out this Deep Ellum spot. After trying ample amounts of beer, my pictures weren’t worth posting (whoops haha!)  We got the chicken tenders, jalapeno biscuits, and habanero bacon mac and cheese. It was a southern delight and I can’t wait to go back!

Monday we just relaxed at home and got In-N-Out! We also started the Jack Ryan series on Amazon Prime and it was very entertaining. I highly recommend adding it to your next rotation of shows to binge watch.

Here are a couple steals from J.Crew Factory that I found going on today…. so grab them before the price goes back up!
